As a data and insurance nerd, during the week, I help internal departments manage data effectively at Ameritas, a mutual insurance company based out of Lincoln, Nebraska. As a self-taught computer programmer, on the weekends, I lead a grassroots nonprofit, Girls Code Lincoln, that bridges the gender gap in technology by teaching a diverse group of middle school girls how to computer program through fun and creative custom curriculum.

Overall, I look for interesting and innovative ways to use my skills and knowledge to better our communities. My passions include data, technology, insurance, enterprise risk management, front end development, and minority education.

Elsbeth Magilton is the Executive Director of the Nebraska Governance and Technology Center (NGTC) and the Space, Cyber, and Telecommunications Law program at the University of Nebraska. She is also the executive producer and occasional guest host of the podcast Tech Refactored and the host of The Girls Code Lincoln Podcast. She has been quoted in The Atlantic, The Verge, Space.com, a host of regional publications, and appeared at SXSW in March 2021. Elsbeth lectures and speaks internationally on military-academic partnerships, space law and security, and women in technology. Elsbeth is the Board President of Girls Code Lincoln.
